The LUGANO Study
Sponsor: EyePoint Pharmaceuticals
Trial Summary
This study is researching an experimental (study) drug called EYP-1901 for people with wet Age-Related Macular Degeneration (wAMD), a condition that can cause loss of central vision due to abnormal blood vessel growth and leakage in the retina. The study is comparing EYP-1901 with aflibercept, an approved treatment for wAMD.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of EYP-1901 compared with aflibercept in people with wet AMD over a 2-year period. EYP-1901 is a tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI) designed to provide long-lasting treatment for wAMD.
The study is also looking at several other research questions, including:
- How well EYP-1901 controls the signs and symptoms of wet AMD compared with aflibercept
- How safe and well tolerated EYP-1901 is in people with wet AMD
- Whether EYP-1901 may help reduce the treatment burden associated with frequent anti-VEGF injections
Condition(s) being studied:
